For your first student immigration registration, follow the steps below and request your supporting letter from Emerald.

Immigration registrations are now managed by Immigration Service Delivery (ISD).

Your first immigration registration

Use this guide to prepare for your first registration appointment and request the supporting letter you need from Emerald.

Book your first registration appointment

After arriving in Ireland, create or access your personal ISD Customer Service account and book a first-time registration appointment in your own name.

Prepare for your appointment

Bring the documents requested in your appointment confirmation. Electronic copies are not accepted for documents that ISD requires in print.

Your current valid passport
The printed address form from your appointment confirmation email
Printed supporting documents for your student permission
Your ECI IMMIGRATION Letter
Private medical insurance
A credit or debit card for the €300 registration fee, if applicable

If you did not require a visa to enter Ireland, current ISD guidance requires evidence of access to €10,000 for courses longer than 8 months, or €833 per month / €6,665 total for courses of 8 months or less.

Request your ECI Immigration Letter

Request your letter approximately 1 week before your appointment. Enter the Irish address where you will be living on the day of your appointment.

Attend the Registration Office

Immigration Service Delivery, 13–14 Burgh Quay, Dublin 2, D02 XK70. Your IRP card is posted to the address you provide and should normally arrive within 10 working days after successful registration.

Send your IRP card copy to Emerald

Email a clear photo of both sides of your IRP card to Student Welfare and include your ECI student ID number for our records.
