How to apply for a PPS Number
Follow these steps to complete your online application and request the proof-of-address letter you need from Emerald.

Create your MyGovID account
You need a basic or verified MyGovID account before you can apply for a PPS Number online.

Start your online PPSN application
PPSN registration is completed online through MyWelfare.

Prepare your supporting documents
You must provide evidence of your identity, your current address, and the reason you need a PPS Number.
- A photo of your passport
- A job offer letter from your employer
- Proof of your current Irish address

Select the correct application reason
Select ‘STARTING EMPLOYMENT’ as your reason for needing a PPSN—not ‘STARTING A COURSE IN A SCHOOL OR COLLEGE’.

Request your ECI proof-of-address letter
Emerald can prepare your PPS Letter and email it to you within 1–2 days. You can use this letter as proof of your current address.
